Learn how to capture and process seascape images from start to finish during this 5 day Southern Oregon Coast seascape photography workshop.

We will begin the workshop at Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay and conclude in Brookings, photographing multiple locations along the way over the course of 5 days. Each day will have two photography sessions, a morning shoot and an evening shoot. A post processing instructional session will be held mid-day on one or two days towards the end of the workshop.

  • Guided treks to beautiful access points along the Southern Oregon Coast to both iconic locations and lessor known locations.

  • In-the-field individual instruction/guidance on composition, camera settings, use of polarizing and neutral density filters, etc.

  • Mid-day post processing lessons featuring simple but effective techniques on how to get the most from your seascape images using Lightroom/Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop.

  • Demonstration on how to clean your camera equipment after saltwater exposure.

What’s not included:

Transportation, lodging, meals, equipment, and anything not listed under the “What’s included” section above.

Who this workshop is for:

Photographers interested in learning how to capture high quality seascape images. Photographers who want to see and explore some of the most spectacular coastline in the world with a group of other like-minded photographers who are there to shoot! Photographers of all experience levels welcome. It’s helpful if you have basic knowledge and understanding of your cameras operation outside of automatic mode but it isn’t a requirement. I can teach you as we go! This is not a smartphone photography course. Please bring an interchangeable lens camera or high quality fixed lens camera and a tripod. In general, wide angle to medium telephoto lenses are most suitable for this workshop but there will be opportunities for some telephoto images as well. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your photography equipment, experience level or physical abilities please don’t hesitate to contact me, I’m happy to help!

Locations:

Locations will very depending on conditions present at the time of the workshop however we will most likely visit; Shore Acres State Park, Sunset Bay State Park, Coquille River Lighthouse, Bandon Beach, Cape Blanco State Park, Meyers Beach, Samuel Boardman Scenic Corridor, Harris Beach State Park, etc.

Physical requirements and safety:

Hiking coastal trails which are often along or near cliff edges is inherently dangerous. I do everything possible to limit risks but some simply can’t be avoided. If you are able to hike up to 1 mile per day on uneven and steep trails/terrain with your camera bag, water bottle, etc. This workshop will be within your physical abilities. You are responsible for knowing your own limits and making me aware of any health and physical concerns you may have prior to the workshop.

Once you purchase your spot on this workshop I will contact you with lodging recommendations as well as basic footwear, outwear, and equipment suggestions to ensure you will be prepared and properly equipped. A general itinerary will be provided as well but we need to remain somewhat flexible in order to best work with the conditions at hand at the time of the workshop.

Cancellation policy:

Should the attendee need to cancel/withdraw from the workshop a refund of your tuition will be issued if:

Cancellation is made more than 2 weeks before the start date of the workshop or If your spot can be filled by another attendee from the waitlist or by referral.

Insurance for your camera equipment is highly encouraged. While I make every effort possible to limit the chances of equipment damage or loss, it can still happen! Oregon seascape photography is inherently hazardous.
