General Info:
Join me for this one-day waterfall photography workshop at Burney Falls State Park on June 3, 2026!
Burney Falls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Northern California, offers an ideal environment to learn and practice the core elements of waterfall photography. This workshop focuses on hands-on instruction in the field, with an emphasis on shutter speed control, filter use, composition, and creative decision-making.
This small group workshop is limited to 5 participants to ensure a strong instructor-to-student ratio and plenty of individualized attention.
Whether you're looking to build foundational skills or refine your existing technique, this is a great opportunity to photograph a world-class waterfall during late spring conditions when water levels are high and green foliage is at it’s peak. Demo filters will be available courtesy of Maven Filters. If you’re interested in purchasing your own filters prior to the workshop feel free to contact me for recommendations.
What’s included:
Guided photography instruction at Burney Falls State Park, including in-the-field, one-on-one guidance on composition, camera settings, shutter speed control, and the use of filters such as polarizers and neutral density filters. Participants will have hands-on practice in a variety of lighting conditions and at different focal lengths to capture creative and compelling images.
After the workshop, participants will receive a post-processing video tutorial demonstrating the editing techniques and considerations I use in my own workflow.
What’s not included:
Transportation, park entrance fees, lodging, meals, equipment, and anything not listed under the “What’s included” section above.
Who this workshop is for:
This workshop is geared towards beginner to intermediate photographers interested in learning how to capture high-quality waterfall images.
All experience levels are welcome! A basic understanding of your camera’s operation outside of full automatic mode is helpful but not required—I can teach you as we go.
This is not a smartphone photography class. Please bring an interchangeable-lens camera or high-quality fixed-lens camera, as well as a sturdy tripod.
Wide-angle to medium-telephoto lenses work best for this location.
